Privacy policy

Northmark is a practice app for the CELPIP-General test, made by Kishan Patel, an independent developer ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Northmark app and this website.
In short: the app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. What you do in the app stays on your device, and we never receive it.
Information stored on your device
To work, the app keeps the following in its private storage on your device:
- What you enter during setup: your first name (optional), why you are taking the test, your target levels, your test date and your reminder settings.
- Your test attempts: your answers, written responses, notes, scores and feedback.
- Recordings of your spoken answers, so you can play them back.
This information is not sent to us or to anyone else. If you back up your device with iCloud or your computer, Apple includes it in that backup under Apple's own terms.
Microphone and speech recognition
The app asks for the microphone and speech recognition only for Speaking tasks. Your spoken answers are turned into text so they can be scored. On devices that support it, this happens entirely on the device. On some older devices, Apple's speech recognition service may process the audio instead, under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive your recordings or transcripts.
Scoring and feedback
Writing and Speaking feedback is created on your device, using Apple Intelligence where it is available and the app's built-in rules otherwise. Your answers are not sent to us or to any third-party AI service.
Purchases
Northmark Lifetime is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details, only a confirmation from Apple that the purchase is valid on your device.
Reminders
Study reminders are scheduled on your device. They are not sent from a server, and you can turn them off in the app or in Settings at any time.
Crash reports
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. They do not identify you, and you can turn this off in Settings under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.
This website and the contact form
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. If you send us a message with the contact form, we receive the details you enter: your email address, your message, and your name and device if you choose to include them. We use them only to reply to you. The website is hosted by Netlify, which stores form messages for us and may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site and block spam. We delete messages once your question is resolved, and in any case within 12 months.
Who else handles data
The only other companies involved are Apple (purchases, speech recognition on some devices, and crash reports if you opted in) and Netlify (this website and the contact form). We only use providers that protect your information at least as well as this policy describes. We do not sell or share your information with anyone else.
Children
Northmark is made for adults preparing for an English test. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
- To delete everything the app stores, open Profile and tap Erase everything, or delete the app from your device.
- To withdraw microphone or speech recognition access, open the Settings app, find Northmark and turn them off.
- To ask about or delete a message you sent us, use the contact form.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Northmark handles information, for example if a future version adds features that need data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
